Homeless but helpful: Toolbox Hub revamps youth centre
Homeless members of the Toolbox Community Empowerment Hub proved their worth by revamping the Ikusasa Child and Youth Care Centre.
From the streets to contributing members of society, the Toolbox Community Empowerment Hub has recently completed their project to revamp the Ikusasa Child and Youth Care Centre in Von Brandis Street in the CBD.
In December, the Krugersdorp News reported on the hub and spoke to its manager, Andrew Holdsworth, who said their main focus is to get the homeless population off the streets by teaching them life-changing skills and ultimately integrating them back into society.
The Toolbox did not fail to impress with this revamp of the youth centre.
Andrew said this project took only three weeks, and they completely revamped the centre which included repainting, wet works, and installing new floors and doors.

“This centre is a Bethany House Trust project, which takes care of about 30 children who have been sent there by the court,” he explained.
He added it took eight members of the hub to do all this work, and they did not even face any challenges completing the project, where Andrew wants to emphasise how capable these homeless people are.
Andrew concluded that the transition from homeless to contributing members of society is extremely important and the projects they can handle are huge, from gardening projects, to complete revamping; they accept any donations from clothing to finances.
