Ouma Lottie celebrates her 102nd birthday
Charlotte Kruger recently turned 102 years old and gave some wholesome advice to young people.

A century is a long time. To put it into perspective, one has to think of some of the most significant events that have taken place over the last 100 years such as two World Wars, the coronavirus pandemic, the coronation of Queen Elizabeth and more.
Charlotte Kruger, known as Ouma Lottie by many, who resides in the Luipaardsvlei Old Age Home can brag about her longevity as she recently celebrated her 102nd birthday on January 18.
Born on a small farm in Johannesburg, Charlotte was among nine children. She also has a twin. Ouma Lottie expressed how fortunate she is to have lived for so long and is forever grateful for the staff around her. In her youth days, she worked as a seamstress for several years and confirmed how she was always busy and on the move.
“I think I have lived as long as I have because I have always been very active. I lived on a farm and one of my most fond memories growing up was when our animals occasionally ran off. We would then chase after them and bring them back. We were always on our feet,” she said.
According to a social worker at the home, Feron du Toit, Ouma Lottie is described as a loving and eccentric person.
”She enjoys her walks and loves to spoil herself with snacks and sweets, it’s rare to see a frown on her face,” Feron said.
Amy Steyn who volunteers at the home also expressed how proud she is of Ouma Lottie for achieving this milestone.

”She is a true inspiration and living proof of the wealth of experience and wisdom that life brings. May her special day be filled with love, happiness, and an abundance of blessings. She is an example for us of how to live life to the fullest. May there be many more precious moments and memories ahead,” Amy said.
