Traffic along Voortrekker Road is heavily congested after a councillor blocked the road in protest against ongoing water issues.

At about 08:00 this morning, May 23, ward councillor Jaco Holtshauzen parked his bakkie in the middle of the busy Voortrekker Road, near the Shannon Road intersection in protest of the ongoing water issue plaguing.

There has not been any water for days, and I’m sick of it, and we don’t get any answers on why we don’t have water,” he stated.

Mogale City Public Safety is on the scene, however, Holtzhausen is refusing to leave until the water situation is fixed, or until there are water tankers made available.

He added he is also organising a bus to block the road.
