Residents reminded of scheduled water maintenance

Residents are reminded of Rand Water's scheduled maintenance and what this means.

With Rand Water’s scheduled maintenance taking place at the end of the month, Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) reminds residents about this and explains what will happen.

MCLM communications officer Refilwe Mahlangu confirmed this will take place from June 30 until July 21, and encourages the community to plan, store and conserve water.

But what will happen during this almost month-long water supply reduction?

She explained that Rand Water will reduce pumping capacity, where water availability will depend on how much water is consumed and reservoir levels.

“The adjustments are that in the first 48 hours there will be no water, the next 42 hours the flow will be increased to 50% and the final 19 days, pumping will be at 80%,” she explained.

She concluded that the more water is being used than the incoming flow, the reservoirs might empty up and will take longer to refill.
