Over 30 vehicles involved in major R28 crash

Chaos erupted on the R28 on Saturday morning after more than 30 vehicles collided, leaving multiple people injured.

The R28 towards the Pinehaven intersection is at a near standstill this morning (November 22) following a massive multi-vehicle crash involving more than 30 vehicles.

The Krugersdorp News is currently on the scene, where traffic heading towards the N14/Pinehaven intersection is heavily backed up.

Numerous emergency services have responded, including police, ambulances, Public Safety, and Mogale Fire and Rescue.

According to Sterkfontein EMS station commander André Raijmakers, about 35 light motor vehicles and four heavy motor vehicles were involved after a truck collided with them.

He confirmed the incident occurred at about 08:30, resulting in 10 people being moderately injured and 13 sustaining minor injuries.

“There are no fatalities or critically injured patients reported. The patients were transported to nearby hospitals,” he said.
