Local pharmacy celebrates 38 years by giving back to Magaliesburg’s youngest

In a heart-warming display of community spirit, Country LifeStyle Pharmacy has reaffirmed its nearly four-decade commitment to the Magaliesburg area by donating R12 500 to Hopelands, a local non-profit organisation dedicated to rescuing and caring for abandoned and vulnerable babies.

The donation was made possible through the BRAVE Adcock Ingram program, a national initiative by Adcock Ingram OTC that celebrates and supports “Sponsors of Brave”, the pharmacists and healthcare professionals who go beyond their daily duties to uplift their communities.

A pillar of the community for 38 years

Since opening its doors in December 1989, Country LifeStyle Pharmacy has been more than just a place to collect prescriptions. For 38 years, it has served as a cornerstone of health and support in the heart of Magaliesburg. Led by a team that prides itself on personalised care, the pharmacy has grown alongside the town, witnessing generations of families walk through its doors.

“As health service providers, it takes a community effort to encourage, support, and build a better society,” says owner Hannelie Sanders. This latest contribution is just one of many local drives the pharmacy supports, ranging from school shoe drives to supporting local elderly residents.

Spotlighting the Work of Hopelands

The recipient of the donation, Hopelands, is an NPO rescue home that provides a safe haven for infants and toddlers (aged 0–3) who have been orphaned or abandoned. Founded by pastors Stephen and Sharon Lamprecht, the organisation operates Hope Cottage where up to 13 children at a time receive unconditional love, medical care, and a “family-style” environment.

The work at Hopelands is vital for the Magaliesburg community. Beyond providing immediate shelter, the organisation focuses on:

• Holistic Care: Ensuring every child receives nutrition, clothing, and essential medical therapy.
• Future Vision: Developing a self-sustaining village on 19 hectares of land to eventually house and school 48 children in a cluster foster-care model.
• Empowerment: Running youth development programs and adult education centres to help the broader community “dream again.”

The BRAVE Programme: Paying it forward

The BRAVE Adcock Ingram programme specifically recognises independent pharmacies that act as the first line of primary healthcare. By participating in this programme, Country LifeStyle Pharmacy was able to ‘pay it forward’, directing funds toward a cause that directly impacts the most vulnerable members of their own backyard.

As Hopelands continues its mission to turn ‘broken beginnings’ into bright futures, contributions like these from local business leaders ensure that hope remains a tangible reality in Magaliesburg.

When donating to Hopelands, you qualify for a Section 18A receipt as a TAX deduction, and they are B-BBEE: Level 1 (135% procurement recognition).

Should you wish and have the ability to make a difference to these abandoned babies, contribute to Hopelands. Any donations are welcome. Find more information on this worthy cause and their banking details on www.hopelands.org.
