Brad kicks off MotoGP season with strong showing at Chang Circui

Krugersdorp's Brad Binder battled tricky conditions to claim a solid seventh-place finish at the season-opening Thailand MotoGP.

South African MotoGP rider and Krugersdorp native Brad Binder put in a strong performance at the PT Grand Prix of Thailand this past weekend, securing a seventh-place finish at the Chang International Circuit.

Riding for the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team on the KTM RC16, Binder was the next highest finisher for his bike, navigating challenging conditions that tested both the machinery and tyres.

While pleased with making it directly into Qualifying 2 on Friday and showing consistency over both races, Binder admitted he had hoped for a higher finish.

“We’re going step-by-step and moving forward. Both races were pretty good, and we’ve made a step with consistency. It was more challenging than the Sprint. The bike has potential, so we’ll keep working and try to catch up to my teammate,” he said.

Binder currently sits sixth in the Championship Standings and will return to action at the Grand Prix of Brazil from March 20 to 22.
