Mogale intervention: Only 17% of Kagiso residents pay for municipal services
Mogale City has stationed a credit control team at the Kagiso Community Hall to help residents resolve billing issues and make payment arrangements.
Many ratepayers diligently pay their municipal accounts but still have to report service delivery issues themselves, often waiting long periods for it to be resolved.
Their frustration is compounded by widespread non-payment for municipal services. The Mogale City Local Municipality (MCLM) has revealed that only 17% of Kagiso residents currently pay for services such as rates, water, and refuse collection.
MCLM assistant manager for media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, said the municipality is taking steps to address the issue by encouraging residents to settle their accounts.

She explained that the municipality has deployed its credit control team to Kagiso to assist residents with municipal account-related matters.
The team will be stationed at the Kagiso Community Hall from 08:00 to 14:00 until March 17.
Residents will be able to access the following services:
• Making payment arrangements
• Resolving account and billing enquiries
• Updating contact details
“We have taken the first step. Meet us halfway and visit our service desk,” she said.
