Mogale urges residents to save water as reservoir levels remain low

With reservoir levels still under strain in areas such as Kagiso and Azaadville, Mogale City is urging residents to use water sparingly to help stabilise supply.

With ongoing water challenges in the province, the municipality is urging residents to use water sparingly.

Mogale City Local Municipality’s assistant manager for media and PR, Refilwe Mahlangu, said this comes as the system remains under pressure.

“Although reservoir levels are gradually improving, high-lying areas continue to experience low pressure or intermittent supply,” she said.

Reservoir levels in the following areas are:

• Kagiso: 35%
• Kagiso Ext 13: 30%
• Azaadville: 50%
• Kenmare: 70%
• Kenmare Sump: 40%

She added that residents are urged not to waste water to help the system recover.

“Responsible water use will help ensure that sufficient water is available to restore a stable supply across all affected areas. Water tankers will continue to be dispatched based on requests received from councillors until the system has fully stabilised,” she concluded.
