R28 traffic heavily backed up after morning crash
Motorists faced major delays on the R28 after an overturned concrete truck partially blocked the road near Robert Broom Drive this morning, May 15.
A concrete truck and a light motor vehicle collided this morning, May 15, at about 07:45.
The Krugersdorp News was on the scene shortly thereafter near the intersection of the R28 and Robert Broom Drive, where traffic congestion stretched back towards the intersection near Key West Shopping Centre.
Station officer at Mogale Fire and Rescue, Jaco van der Westhuizen, said the light motor vehicle and truck collided, causing the truck to overturn and obstruct traffic on the R28 in the direction of Pinehaven.

“There were two minor injuries reported, and the injured were transported to the hospital,” he said.
Clean-up operations have since commenced, and Van der Westhuizen added that the road will remain partially closed for a few hours until the scene has been cleared.

Emergency medical services personnel and Public Safety officials are currently on scene. Despite rumours circulating online claiming the vehicle involved was a fire truck, it has been confirmed to be a concrete-pouring truck.
The News will provide updates should more information become available.
