Matrics offered a second bite at the cherry
The Department of Basic Education has launched a programme to aid learners who were unsuccessful with matric examinations.
The Second Chance Matric Programme has been launched and matric learners are encouraged to apply.
On January 22, the government released a statement regarding the programme which is aimed at matric learners who have not done well in their final matric examinations. The request is to sign up for the programme and rewrite your exams to ultimately improve your results.

The programme was issued by the Department of Basic Education (DBE) as a means to support and assist candidates in meeting the requirements of the National Senior Certificate (NCS). This offers learners a second chance at receiving a Grade 12 matric certificate.
Candidates who have matriculated between 2008 and 2022 qualify to register for the NCS examination. Personal classes are available at multiple locations all over the country, along with radio and television broadcasts. There are no charges if a candidate chooses to apply.
The DBE is providing additional online service for the NCS candidates if they wish to re-mark for examinations. However, this service is not free, and respective costs will apply.
Applications for the Second Chance Matric Programme are now open and candidates may register at any provincial education office. Candidates are also afforded the option to register online at www.eservices.gov.za.
