KHS cricket season begins on a high note

Krugersdorp High School (KHS) couldn't have gotten their cricket season off to a better start, with one batsman nearly reaching a double century.

Krugersdorp High School’s cricket season started with a bang, although it has not come easy for the boys.

The juniors had two local derbies recently against Hoërskool Monument and Hoërskool Noordheuwel which were called off due to lightning. Fortunately, KHS secured a 40-run win over Monument through the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method (DLS). Unfortunately, the game against Noordheuwel was abandoned with no result.

In addition, the U14 A boys played against Parktown Boys High School’s U14 B side who only managed a dismal 24 runs in total. KHS then played against King David Linksfield’s U16 A and lost a nail-biter and final ball.

KHS’s first team also played against King David Linksfield’s first team winning in the super over by 13 runs.

On February 1, KHS’s second team cruised to a 66-run win against La Salle College with Aiden Joubert scoring 42 runs from 45 balls. He was well supported by Juandre Snyman who scored a quick 23 runs off just 16 balls.

On February 3, KHS’s U15 A boys lost by 52 runs to St Benedicts’ U15 A while the first team showed everyone how it’s done by hammering CBC Boksburg’s first team by 100 runs.

KHS’ Mashudu Khangala was the star with the bat, having scored 187 off 120 deliveries hitting 11 fours and 14 sixes in the process. Rendani Kutane was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/21 in 10 overs.
