Laerskool Millennium learners join Red Squad rugby group

For a group of young Laerskool Millennium rugby players, weekends just got more exciting – they’ve earned a spot in the Red Squad, where Golden Lions youth coaches are shaping the next generation of rugby talent.

Nine talented Laerskool Millennium learners have been selected to join the prestigious Red Squad, a skills development rugby programme guided by coaches from the U12 and U13 Golden Lions teams.

Millennium recently announced the names of the learners who have been selected to join the squad. According to the school’s rugby organiser, Tumelo Keotleng, this forms part of their preparation for next year’s rugby season.

Keotleng said the players were chosen after three weeks of regional trials.

“This is a practice group focused on developing skills, and no matches are played. Training takes place at least once a week until November,” he explained.

He added that the following learners were selected:

• U13:
Botlhale Mokgothu
Zukanye Setati
Nkosinathi Khumalo
Luvuyo Nonyongo
Omolemo Lesese
Lusapho Myeza
Omphile Kgwebana

• U12:
Junior Mayisela
Luzuko Kgoathisi
