Krugersdorp High School (KHS) girls’ rugby and soccer teams had the opportunity to celebrate women’s excellence on the sports field over the weekend of August 7 to 10.

The U15 girls’ soccer teams participated in the Trinity Glen Vista Soccer Tournament, where they had the opportunity to play against some of the top girls’ school teams in the province. The tournament provided them with a valuable opportunity to learn and grow.

The first team girls participated in the Annual Janine van Wyk Diamond League School Cup at the AW Muller Stadium at the University of Johannesburg. Following a nerve-wracking final against Parktown Girls, the team won 4–3 on penalties, making KHS the 2026 winners.

A further highlight was Naomi Kouassi being named the standout player of the tournament.

The girls’ rugby teams participated in the Imbokodo Rugby Tournament at the University of Johannesburg on August 8 and 9.

According to school marketer Lauren Coetse, the opportunity to participate in the tournament was a privilege for the girls, as it aligns with the vision of KHS to provide all learners with opportunities to further develop both on and off the field while celebrating their excellence.

“Thanks to the platform that KHS provides the young girls, the school was identified as a Focus School for the Department of Sport and Culture. The school is the only one on the West Rand that offers Girls Rugby, Girls Soccer and Girls Cricket over and above the traditional sports,” she said.
