Why bother to have traffic signs if they are ignored

David Kahn from Rangeview writes:

I am a resident of Rangeview Extension 4 , and on numerous CPF meetings, I have complained about the danger of corner Bell Street and Witpeer, as well as corner Witpeer and Simon Bekker Street.

The residents of this neighborhood bluntly ignores this stop signs, and not once but numerous times, have I predicted a serious accident to take place on one of these corners.

Despite the residents with his jacked up Lexus and BMW (without number plates at any given time), Mrs with her black BMW’s (X5 and 1 series) are one of the main culprits who chooses to use this road as a race track. All of the complaints so far have been ignored, even though photographs have been sent to Sector 7 CPF, clearly showing the offenders.

Are the local authorities afraid to take action, or are they being paid in kindness to ignore all cries for action? I cannot help to wonder, what purpose is served by the Traffic Department being at the CPF meetings, hearing the complaint, yet ignoring serious Traffic Offender hotspots.

On 2 September at 5pm an accident took place on the corner of Witpeer and Simon Bekker Street – is this enough for the traffic department to now put the required speed bumps on this roads, or will the use by Ambulances and SAPS still be an excuse?

I appeal to you to please investigate this, and make innocent pedestrians and other road users aware of the dangers on these two corners. It’s time to take action, before someone gets killed.
