On Tuesday 12 November we experienced a power failure around Quellerie Park after a heavy thunderstorm.
Little did we know that we would spend the night without the power being restored. However, the most daring issue I experienced during the time when the power was off, was calling the Customer Service for assistance only to realise that the Emergency Services that are supposed to deal will emergency incidents such as fires, accidents and possible flooding as it is rainy season were handling electricity complaints. They kept on referring calls to a number that was either ignored or not answered at all.
I kept on calling and the emergency personnel reassured me that the electricity would be restored as soon as possible because they have alerted the engineer.
What a bunch of bull&%*t is that. Electricity was never restored. When I left for work after taking a cold shower on Wednesday morning, the electricity still was not restored. Is that what the municipality calls good service?
What happened to all the promises to jerk up their customer service centre and let alone have people answer their phones – I don’t know how much I have spent by just calling 011 951 2440/ 2438 without getting a response.
What happened to service chatter and standards, let alone the turn-around time to answer calls and respond to queries?
It’s certainly shameful. Electricity is a very basic amenity and situations like these should not occur.
