What does a minister of the church do?

Very quickly you will think about weddings, funerals and christenings, preaching on Sundays and teaching Bible classes.

Yes, that is a part of the duty of a minister, but there is a lot more.

Just recently I visited numerous people suffering with cancer. My task is to bring hope into what often seems a hopeless situation. I face many questions.

Why me? Why now? Why this? Where is God when I need him?

What some see as a physical battle becomes so much more. It is a mental challenge, a psychological mine field and a spiritual dilemma.

I don’t have all the answers, but this one thing I must confess: these people bless me.

Many people doing battle with cancer have developed a faith in God that I cannot imagine. It is easy to talk religion, but many of these people are giants of faith.

If you want to give your faith a turbo boost, spend a bit of time with a cancer patient that loves God. These men and women are the true heroes in God’s army.
