Photo of the Week: Magaliesberg dragonfly snapshot takes top honours in photography competition
A local hiker spots a rare transformation in the mountains, inspiring community photographers to share their own lens-captured wonders.
Local photographers continue to share their best work, with a mountain metamorphosis taking the latest Photo of the Week honour for the November 6 edition.
Charmaine Arneil captured nature at its finest with a Canon R7 and a 100mm macro lens while hiking in the Magaliesberg on October 18.
“I live by a motto: ‘Slow down, to notice the small magical things around you,’ and I hope these photos will encourage people to slow down in their lives, to look up and actually see the beauty around them,” she said.
She said she had paused long enough to notice the dragonfly in the final stages of its metamorphosis, transforming from an aquatic larva.
“There was something magical about being able to watch this perfectly designed creature take its first flight and take off into its next adventure,” she said.
