Traffic lawlessness

Tom Lessing from Krugersdorp writes:

Krugersdorp central has become a veritable paradise fraught with traffic lawlessness.

Jaywalkers expect you to stop at a green light while they leisurely cross the street at a red light.

Four-way stop streets are viewed as yield signs. The worst offenders are women who think because they are women they have the right of way. Ironically, most of them have a sticker on the back of their luxury cars, 4X4s and limousines reminding you that they have kids in transit. Really!

The question is: Why? I think the most obvious reason is that the visibility of traffic officers on the roads are absolutely zilch, nada, zero.

I was surprised to see that traffic officers were more visible at the Key West shopping center where the new building construction has been going on for aeons. The Cradlestone Mall was built in record time and opened 20 November this year.

Be that as it may, the parking facilities at the Key West shopping center is appalling, the result being that shoppers are forced to park in areas where they are not supposed to.

Lo and behold, the Traffic Department has allotted a fine berry to issue parking tickets to the offenders.

I think it is disgusting.

It proves that they have no concern for the lives of people in Krugersdorp central and are only out to make a fast buck.
