God wants to look into your eyes

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

People say that the eye is the window to the soul.

During the start of January I visited a business and asked a woman at her computer a random question.

“How did your new year start so far?”

A very brief hesitation and she gave the textbook answer, “Good”.

I stepped a bit closer and said, “I am confused, your mouth says one thing and your eyes say something else”.

Quickly she looked at her computer screen and started typing.

With no further eye contact between us, her last words to me were, “That’s why I don’t want to look into your eyes”.

Yes, it is true, the eyes are the windows into the soul.

If that is true, and I believe it is, can I ask you when last have you looked into the eyes of your spouse, your children or even a total stranger?

Life is full of deadlines, distractions and delusions.

Maybe it is time to stop and look people in the eyes. Someone close to you may be hurting, scared, even desperate.

God wants to look into your eyes, don’t turn your head.

1 Peter 3:12, “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their prayers”.
