Agang helped with housing situation

Raliphi George Xolelizwe, chairperson of the Kagiso Community Leadership Forum writes:

Mogale residents woke up early on the morning of Tuesday 28 January with a surprise as Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Kagiso branch gathered next to Chief Mogale Hall, chanting struggle songs.

EFF claimed that there were houses being wrongly occupied while beneficiaries were not allocated their houses.

As they were continuing to sing the liberation songs Julius Malema’s group managed to draw the attention of the motorists and pedestrians among heavy police presence.

The leader of EFF told its supporters that they have a list that the Gauteng Housing Department has given them and that they were going to identify the beneficiaries.

The EFF leader further said they were preparing to march to the Town Hall at Mogale City Local Municipality to meet with the Executive Mayor and his team to discuss this confusion.

I together with a well-experienced politician and community guru realised that this was misleading information and there was no truth in it.

I started searching for community leaders, representatives from structures such as the ANC, MKVA and even the ward councillor to clarify the matter, but I found no one.

Agang SA saved the day by clarifying the issue. Its representative said that Mogale City Local Municipality, through its Rural Development and Human Settlement (RDHS) portfolio and Gauteng Department of Local Government and Housing (DLGH) were flooded with queries regarding the allocation of houses.

Agang SA furthermore said housing was one of the major projects that the government was facing and in order to alleviate fears regarding the allocation of houses in our communities they had started a beneficiary administration process. This would help them to clarify issues that our communities were raising regarding the criteria that would be followed to allocate houses and the necessary documents that would be needed for the subsidy applications.
