It’s a war zone in this area

Colin Povey from Krugersdorp writes:

I have read about the crimes lately in Oaktree and Krugersdorp North – about elderly people being held up and being robbed.

It is perhaps old news but on 21 December, just before Christmas last year, my son and I were held up in Oaktree; tied up at gunpoint and robbed of laptops and cellphones.

My son is 16 and a Hoërskool Noordheuwel pupil. It’s a war zone in this area. What is bad is that night of the invasion, the Krugersdorp police, a mere 4km away, failed to respond.

The Kagiso police responded to the call. It’s an absolute waste of resources. The Krugersdorp police popped in to visit nine hours later to see if everything was OK.

To date I never have received a call from the investigator. Fortunately neither myself nor my son were harmed.

The area is a mess.

One week ago, obviously being more ‘vigilant and frightened’, I called the sector police to respond to a strange person lingering around.

The call went to voicemail.

What’s the point of having sector police and the numbers of the vehicles? Nevertheless a 16-year-old child was held at gunpoint with his father and tied up while being robbed. It’s a war zone in this area.
