I will never forget you, Mathew

Paula Rogers from Krugersdorp writes:

Your article on the late Mathew Warby (featured on the NEWS’ website on 11 February) was as accurate as any I have read.

Well reported by your NEWS team.

I had the pleasure of crossing paths with Mathew a couple of times over the last few years, he certainly made a lasting impression on me.

I smile as I remember him, and I certainly won’t forget that laugh and the constant smiling face.

Once at a function at Tony’s Spaghetti Grill, it was especially great fun to be sitting in young Mathew’s company.

Listen I am an old lady, he had me partying like a 21-year-old, he was the life and soul of my evening, that’s for sure.

As you stated “he is deeply mourned by all who had the pleasure to meet and know him”, it is not an understatement, he always left you thinking.

He had two “wing men” who always stood either side of him, being Joey and Housten, and not far away you would spot Carol and Rocky keeping a loving eye on the three boys, smiling (I imagine with pride).

I count myself lucky to have met Mathew on those few occasions, so much fun, so full of life, a good boy.

He also was blessed to have the parents he did, and to be surrounded by wonderful family and friends.

You may not remember me, Mathew … but I will never forget you.
