We were all left in the dark on Thursday 6 March when, countrywide, we were left without electricity for most of the day.
When the electricity was turned back on, the surge “fried” the power supply box of my computer, rendering it totally useless.
I contacted three computer shops and was quoted from R550 to R650 just to have it booked in and looked at! As I only live from my Sassa grant, there was no way I could afford these quotes and waited until Saturday. I then phoned Evolution IT at the President Hyper and they told me to bring my computer to them and that they are open on the Saturday afternoon.
I dropped off the computer, they assured me that it would be ready within half an hour and that it only would cost me R220!
What a relief it was! They showed me the part they had replaced – a massive part with hundreds of wires. I could not believe that they could replace it for just R220. Were they not been able to repair the computer for this amount, I would have remained without a computer as I could not afford the prices quoted by other companies.
I fetched it soon afterwards and would like to thank them for their excellent, friendly and prompt service.
I left the shop with a smile on my face, realising that there, indeed, are still businesses that do not just rip one off at every chance they get.
