Small claims court and their rulings

Resident of Noordheuwel writes:

Could someone please explain how a simple court case can and has been allowed to run since 2012?

The defendant has appeared only once in six given court dates, (contempt of court).

On the third court date, costs where awarded to me.

The defendant requested a review but on the fourth court date again he did not turn up.

On the fifth court date the defendant showed up and requested a postponement.

The sixth court date the judgement was confirmed in my favour.

Again the ducking and diving, no payment has been received.

This is from a self-proclaimed successful business man who has told me I shouldn’t think that he has no money, he has millions but he will never pay me one cent.

He told me that he has two lawyers in his family and that he could draw this case out for ten years.

This is from a brave 43-year-old who among the several four or five businesses backing on to my property is a massage parlour, in what was once a respectable residential area?
