I will not pay

Leonie Hayes from Krugersdorp writes:

A final demand notification was delivered to my premises.

I went to see the Credit Controller at Mogale City Municipality regarding this and the one lady told me that they never should have printed and delivered a final demand notification, as there was less than R400 outstanding.

Another extremely rude and arrogant little lady at the same counter informed me that my power will not be disconnected, as the outstanding amount was less than R400 .

I asked her why the notification was sent, and she replied that they send a final demand even if there is R100 outstanding but do not disconnect the power. This notification clearly stipulates that if I do not comply in paying the outstanding amount within seven days, the service to my premises will be terminated.

This notification also carries an additional cost of R142,50.

I am asking you now if the service is not going to be cut, why is a final demand notification being issued?

In my opinion it is so that Mogale City Municipality can claim an additional R142,50 from me, which I call stealing.

I am putting this in writing so that Mogale City is aware of my intentions to take this matter up with the media and with the town manager. I will not be paying this additional R142,50 that has been charged to my account for something that never should have been done.
