On Friday 30 May I picked up two casual labourers at the corner of Robert Broom Drive and Leeu Street to help me move to a new place.
They helped me with two loads, which took about three hours.
I paid them R150 each, gave them a queen-size mattress, a gazebo and an old Samsung home theatre system.
Imagine my disgust on unpacking and discovering that they had stolen my brand-new pair of Nike shoes my wife had bought me a month ago for my birthday.
It really annoys me that I am trying to help them out by offering them a job for a few hours, plus all the other stuff I gave them, and they still feel the need to steal my shoes.
So, for anyone picking up casual labourers for a day, avoid it, they will steal from you.
