Will next time be different?

Thumbs up Mogale FM for giving smaller parties airtime/ slots in a programme called In celebrating 20 year of Democracy in South Africa to market their manifestos.

Mogale FM 93.6 prime time talk show host Tracy Ntombikayise Lebe, famously known as The White Pearl and co-host Trevor Bonginkosi Boqo, popularly known as Trevor B were in full fight, moderating an election debate at Chief Mogale Hall on 28 April before the election took place.

Tension during the debate culminated into a brief scuffle between the Member of Mayoral Committee for Infrastructure in Mogale City Local Municipality and the panel inside the building during the event.

Speaking in a full-capacity Chief Mogale Hall I, the coordinator of the Gauteng Provincial Workers and Socialist Party (Wasp) yearned for human progress.

We vote and pray that things work out. Those who live in squalor in Tudor Shaft, Soul City, West Village, Makhulugama and Mogale Village in Tarlton hope the next time they vote, much around them have changed.

Those toil their lives away in the mines and on farms voted hoping a day of salvation would come. The march towards the eradication of inequality will gain traction. The hustlers in Krugersdorp, street-sellers in Mogale City, and the unemployed in Munsieville, Kagiso and surrounding areas yearn for the fruits of liberation.

The ruling party inevitable received the most attention as the DA, Cope, PAC, IFP, ACDP and Azapo took digs at the ANC’s Nkandla scandal, e-toll and rampant government corruption.

The political parties taking part in the debate renewed their campaign promises on that day, answering question from The White Pearl and Trevor B, alongside questions from members of other political parties.
