Suspension of radio personality uncalled for

Raliphi George Master Push Xolelizwe writes:

Kagiso listeners are up in arms with their community radio station.

The station angered its listeners when the management suspended Trevor Boqo without explanation.

Trevor B, as he popularly is known was suspended when from the community radio station where he presented the Love Train Show on Sundays.

I advise those who are affected by his suspension, such as churches, businesses, workers, unemployed, civic movements, schools and NGOs to confront the management in a united front.

Trevor’s love for radio is unquestionable, hence community leaders such as me initiated the Bring Back Trevor B campaign. The campaign includes the media and everybody in society so that the campaign can be successful.

Since the community radio station doesn’t have proper structures such as board members and it doesn’t call community radio meetings, on which mandate did they suspend him?

Therefore we are not even sure it the station had followed the correct channels.

Trevor took his fight with the station to the CCMA.

One of the News’ regular writers, Thabile Mange once wrote: “Trevor B also passes as a radio analyst, if there is such. He critically listens to different radio stations and expresses his opinion about them. His critical analysis on radio stations has earned him friends and enemies alike. But it’s all in the game.”

Trevor has been making a positive and meaningful contribution to the station. His show has became a must to listen to.

He also used the radio platform to motivate listeners by inviting motivational speakers on his show.

What I liked about him is that he used the radio mic to make a difference, not for fame.
