Start to think positive thoughts

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

I recently read that, on average, 50 000 thoughts go through our minds every day. Imagine – 50 000 – so the brain is probably the most active organ in your body. If thoughts stayed thoughts, that would be okay, but thoughts spill over into life, influencing everything.

The problem is that most of the 50 000 thoughts that shoot through your mind are negative. This results in a negative attitude and finally negative actions.

The mistake we make is that we treat the mind as an independent organism, which we cannot really control. This is not true. We all choose our focus areas. If you want to be pessimistic, negative, critical, fault-finding, you can feed your mind a certain diet.

As a Christian you can choose what to feed your mind. I love many of the sayings that Jesus left us. As I read the Bible, I fill my mind with positive food for thought.

As I choose company that feeds my mind with good things, I start to think positive thoughts. Space may be the last frontier, but the mind is definitely the greatest battleground. What do you fill your mind with?

Proverbs 23:7 says, “As a man thinketh so is he”.

PS: Don’t feed your mind junk.
