I recently read the following words of wisdom, “Science has now proven that the world revolves around the sun.
This must be a great disappointment to some who really believed that the world revolves around them”. So true!
Many of us live our lives as if we are the centre of the universe. Maybe that is the underlying problem in many marriages – two people who have been led to believe that the world revolves around them by doting parents. So within the relationship there is frustration and disappointment as they both compete for the limelight.
That is probably the single biggest reason why Christians leave the faith. In their world, God is a means to an end, a source of good things and a wall against bad things. Using the Bible and prayer, we attempt to get God to grant our wishes. If God fails or decides on something different for us, we cancel our contract.
One famous Old Testament figure didn’t have this attitude. After losing everything he had, he uttered these famous words, “Though He slay me, yet will I hope in Him.” Job13:15.
God is not here to serve us, we are created to serve him. Amen!
