Kefilwe Mpho Foundation empowers the community of Mogale

Chairperson of the KMF, Johanna Mogale, from Kagiso writes:

The Kefilwe Mpho Foundation (KMF) is a Kagiso-based NPO which was established in 2009. Its aim is to uplift the community of Mogale City through various programmes, which cater for both the young and old.

Lack of technical skills contributes to the high unemployment rate in South Africa. The Foundation seeks to address the shortage of technical skills, particularly scarce skills (welding, plumbing and electrical), through skills development programmes such as apprenticeships and learnerships.

During the last week of October, the KMF organised an event for the elderly of Kagiso, which was held at the Kagiso Community Hall. The event was dubbed the Elders Pampering Day and the hall was full to capacity.

The elderly were served a delicious lunch and entertained with music. After lunch, the elderly enjoyed themselves and danced to the music. They were also showered with gifts such as boots, slippers, caps as well as food parcels.

The objective of the Elders Pampering Day was to celebrate the Seniors and Elders Month. But the focus was more on breast cancer awareness.

The elderly were also informed about the foundation’s upcoming events: the home gardening programme (in partnership with the Mogale City Parks), Wellness Day and our annual Christmas party, which will be held in December 2017.

The event would not have been a success without the generous donations of our loyal sponsors. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to our sponsors.
