‘We are all trapped in the same boat’

Ameline Naude from Krugersdorp writes:

In response to George Master Push’s letter We gave them space but it’s time to act, in which he made mention of the ANC pushing for land expropriation without compensation –

Mr Push, I see you say that “we need to change the law” to make land expropriation without compensation valid.

I ask you, does Zimbabwe ring any bells? I give you this, a quote by Dr Adrian Rogers, which may help all who read it to understand why South Africa is where it is now, and why it’s getting worse – “You cannot legislate the poor into freedom while legislating the wealthy out of freedom. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half the people get the idea that they do not have to work, because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is about the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it.”

I say to you: What I have worked for, no one should get, unless they work just as hard as I did to get it, and if they want it, I’d better be compensated for it. No one deserves anything without working for it. South Africa is a terrible country because of the people in it. Since we’re all trapped in the same boat, let’s all work together in a positive manner for the things we want, rather than taking them from others.
