Why pay land tax?

Jean Owen from Krugersdorp writes:

The governing party has decreed that the land belongs to the government.

However, Mogale City thinks otherwise and on a monthly basis sends out land tax demands to all the title deed holders of their land.

For this land tax Mogale City provides absolutely nothing … no water reticulation, no refuse removal, no sewerage, no tarred roads, no street lighting and no electricity.

And yet the title deed holders don’t own the land, according to Mogale City’s political masters.

So … as the land belongs to the government, therefore the government must pay Mogale City for the land that they say belongs to them. It ain’t our problem no more!
