Thank you, Mr Mayor

Thabile Mange from Kagiso writes:

It’s not every day that you meet an executive mayor walking or driving without body guards. However, many people have told me that they have met the Mogale City Executive Mayor on several occasions at a mall in Krugersdorp doing his business without body guards. Is he not security conscious? For Pat’s sake, he is not an ordinary citizen!

The other day I met the Executive Mayor, Naga Patrick Lipudi, at President Hyper in Krugersdorp. Lipudi was walking freely and comfortably, though he was with his body guard. He was also interacting with the public with great ease. And the body guard didn’t keep people away from the Mayor.

It is clear that the position of mayor has not changed Lipudi a bit. He remains a humble servant of the people. I know the above sounds like a stuck record but it’s true – and it needs to be repeated because it’s a good thing. He is also not afraid to go to a mall without body guards, though protocol dictates otherwise. That’s a sign of a good leader.

But I digress. On 14 February (Valentine’s Day), the Executive Mayor gave blankets to the elderly at the Kagiso Care for the Aged (KCA). It was a nice Valentine’s present for the oldies, who are mostly disregarded and neglected by he society. It was also a gesture of love from Lipudi. There are about 380 KCA members. I should know; I serve as the deputy chairperson. All the members received blankets. The elderly were honoured to receive the gift from the number-one citizen in Mogale City. They cherish the gift so much.

Lipudi made a promise to the oldies and he kept it. He has earned the trust of the elderly – and mine.

This shows that he is not all talk and no action. He walks the talk. I wish to thank the Executive Mayor of Mogale City for the blankets he gave the oldies. May God bless you abundantly, Mr Mayor!
