The article Krugersdorp North house of horrors to get a serious fright? which was published on 7 May on the News’ website, has reference.
It is clearly understood that the conditions and atmosphere at 49 Blommenstein Street are not very pleasing. But this state-owned property has assisted women who have children and don’t have a place to go.
We have to look at how can we resolve this as a community and not because of race and the disadvantaged low-income people. Let’s look at how we can ensure that the environment is kept clean and sustainable and does not affect other homeowners in the neighborhood. Another point is that the area is very safe at the moment because of these people. Other parts of Krugersdorp have a high number of house-breakings, and that is a fact.
The people who live there are just seeking shelter for their children and it would be insensitive to act on the current situation and not look beyond, at the bigger picture, for the reason why such a situation exists.
I call upon all people who live in the surrounding areas of Krugersdorp – we are known as people of love and a caring nature as we are a small town – to come together and help these people and advise them on how they should take care of their surroundings.
