Why must bullets be lethal?

Elzibi van der Westhuizen from Krugersdorp writes:

How often is the wrong person shot dead?

How often does the police officer, parent or friend wish he/ she could reverse the process after killing a suspect?

When we consider all the wonderful inventions and inventors from SA, like Pratley Putty from Krugersdorp, which gone to the moon; dolosse at our harbours; the Kreepy Krawley, Chris Barnard, and my hero, Elon Musk, I wonder about non-lethal ‘bullets’.

Our clever veterinarians may be able to rethink the darts used on wild animals to make a universal dosage with reaction faster and ‘safer’ for different weights of humans.

Or perhaps our technology experts can work on a tazer-type bullet that can incapacitate a suspect at a distance.

So many brilliant brains out there – some even retired to the porch – how miraculous, and potentially lucrative, [would it be] to come up with a viable solution to a heart-rending problem.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
