I read the letter, Ruik enige iemand anders dit? which featured in the 22 June edition of the News.
I fully agree with Magda, whose letter concerning the constant burning of substances around Mindalore was published. I also live in Seehoff Avenue, and often huge plumes of black smoke, which seem to be coming from the Chamdor area envelop the suburb.
The constant burning of bush along the stream adds to the air pollution. It is almost daily that we are subjected to the most foul smell of something burning, and we have to shut all the doors and windows. It makes breathing very difficult, and causes us to develop headaches.
Smoke often settles over the whole of Mindalore, and filters into the house, making sleeping difficult.
I have also tried to contact the municipality, but to no avail. The local Community Policing Forum was also contacted, but they said the smoke was coming from an informal settlement in Chamdor, but we disagree, as the smell is pungent and sharper than a wood burning smell.
