Vusi Lion has written a book titled Lead like a taxi driver.
When I first read the book title, I was taken aback. “Who wants to lead like a taxi driver?” I asked myself. Taxi drivers have a reputation of mistreating and ill-treating commuters. In essence, they don’t give customer service. Surely that cannot be regarded as leadership? That said, it will be unfair to paint all the taxi drivers with the same brush. There are good ones who treat commuters with respect and dignity.
The book is not about taxi drivers per se, but about leadership. The writer uses taxi drivers to drive his point home. Lion has interviewed taxi drivers during the writing process. He has discovered leadership traits that many don’t see in them.
Remember, everyone is a leader in his or her own right, including taxi drivers.
