‘Bianca, you left big shoes to fill’

Mogale City Zonal Task Team chairperson of the South African National Civic Organisation (Sanco), Raliphi George Master Push Xolelizwe, writes:

We say goodbye to a dedicated, committed, passionate and moreover, a hard-working journalist – Bianca Pindral.

Bianca was not just a reporter to us, but part of the community. Bianca was a non-politician, but guess what? When political parties had their rallies, she got invited to capture the event. When sports formations hosted tournaments, she was there. When business people discussed their business growth and profits, she made sure she informed the residents.

Court of law became Bianca’s field of speciality, she even went the extra mile in reporting the entertainment gigs and the churches as well as police crime.

Honestly, I am one of those who never expected Bianca’s career would take off at the speed of an equestrian race.

The dedication and passion she had for the community didn’t go wrong. Bianca was a very eager person who loves people in every aspect.

When Bianca Pindral started making her mark in the ‘dorp’ in 2016, she soon discovered she would have to fill large gaps; there were and still are so many untold stories that not only touched her or the people she wrote about, but somehow it got ‘dorp mense’ talking and involved too.

There are so many stories that stand out for me and it will be difficult to single out any of them. All she can do is thank everyone who had a role in her growth as a journalist and I hope to continue hearing from you.

Your pen, however, will not stop writing as from 24 August as you will be travelling to China to teach and have a lot of places to see. I firmly believe your career there soon will find new life and meaning.

To the Krugersdorp News editor who trusted in you even when you nervously sat in her office trying to sell your story as a journalist, you cannot thank her enough for the confidence she had in you.

To all your colleagues, the editor, Janine Viljoen, and Alanicka Lotriet with whom you worked, they have taught you so much and helped shape you, not just to be a better journalist, but also a better person.

And our receptionist, Ida Erasmus, you can’t thank her enough for her friendliness and ever-smiling face as this surely has pulled you through difficult times when you felt a bit down.

At Caxton, we employ humans to generate daily fresh news, not AI intervention. Happy reading!
