Hajane uses his story to inspire others

Thabile Mange from Kagiso writes:

I recently met Pancho Hajane through a friend. Hajane, originally from Munsieville, is an educational specialist, motivational speaker and author. He is also well-travelled and has contributed to policy development (relating to children) in South Africa. He’s now retired and focusing on writing and motivational speaking.

Hajane has written many books but has only published one, titled Enduring Hope. Enduring Hope, which is self-published, is a motivational book. In it, the author uses his personal experiences to inspire others. For instance, when he was in matric, now Grade 12, he suffered from depression and lost six months of schooling. However, he went back to school in the same year and passed his matric very well.

The following year, he went to Wits University to further his studies. In his first year, he suffered from depression again and dropped out. To keep himself busy, he helped matric students in Munsieville with their studies. He also became involved in other community activities, some politically related.

A year later, he went to a teachers’ college to do teacher training. He completed his teaching diploma in record time and became a teacher. He has taught at a number of schools on the West Rand and in Potchefstroom.

He rose through the ranks and became a senior educational specialist. While he was an educational specialist, he did a lot of research focusing on challenges faced by children, including orphans and street kids. He has been invited to Parliament on many occasions and has also been to Belgium to interview judges there for his research work.

Hajane has written a number of books (including poetry), as already indicated. He’s planning to publish his unpublished work from next year. His published book is also used at several higher learning institutions and by tertiary students.

The author has suffered many setbacks (which cannot all be mentioned here because of space) in life due to depression. According to him, depression is real, but is not well understood by many. As a result, people don’t know how to support sufferers of this condition.

In his book, Hajane preaches the gospel of hope in the midst of hopelessness. In his struggle with depression, he managed to pull himself up by the bootstraps and achieved his goals, career-wise and otherwise. He penned Enduring Hope to inspire others who may be suffering from depression or discouraged by the challenges of life. Indeed there is hope.
