Mogale City is light years behind on payments to Rand Water Board and Eskom, yet they found money to waste on cameras and new vehicles for traffic officers to use as private vehicles.
What they need to do is take unroadworthy vehicles (like taxis) off the road and make sure vehicles and motorbikes all have number plates, that their lights are working and windscreens are in a perfect condition.
While driving, they should check and pull over reckless drivers, do something about illegal stopping (dropping off and picking up of passengers), and be visible at hot spots (stop streets and intersections).
They must also report potholes, faulty robots and stop signs and do traffic control. We are paying you to do a honest day’s work and not to sit behind a camera.
I do urge the motorists to check the calibration and operating certificates. Money collected via these fines and licences fees must be allocated towards road maintenance but we know this is not the case.
White lines and potholes not attended to, instead they buy cameras.
