I read your editorial on the state of Krugersdorp town and must say that you put the state of Krugersdorp ‘very mildly’, with reference to the editor’s note which featured in the 30 November edition of the News.
In my opinion it is absolutely disgusting and appalling and I don’t think that these words even describe it correctly.
I mentioned this in two or three articles I wrote months back about the Mayor Naga Patrick Lipudi spending his time visiting clinics, cuddling babies, handing out blankets, etc in response to other people complaining as well that this was all he was doing instead of his real duties in attending to his Council committee members and getting them working hard on cleaning up the slum, squalid, filthy, smutty town of Krugersdorp.
It is absolutely revolting and disgusting to ride through this derelict town of Krugersdorp and it makes me depressed and miserable to see the filth lying around, pavements broken, robot poles not painted, weeds growing all over, placards stuck on dustbins and robots, most buildings in the town are dilapidated, filthy and rundown, and this is the reason why I don’t use, visit, or shop in this town anymore, but rather use other towns and shopping centres that take pride in their town.
The municipality is doing absolutely nothing for the residents of Krugersdorp, and there is no support from the various other political parties either as it seems they also are not doing anything about it, and just accept it.
The finance position should not be used as an excuse as to why the council is millions behind in paying our water bill, or paying Eskom for our electricity, or cleaning up the town.
If they did not squander or waste money on things that are not essential, or on wasteful expenditure, and budgeted properly and stopped giving themselves bonuses, which were not necessary, and allocated the funds appropriately to essential services as was needed, we would not have been in the financial mess we are in at present and there would be money available for other essential services as well.
The Mayor should have applied his mind to more hard work in Krugersdorp together with his committee at the beginning of 2018 instead of starting off wasting his time visiting around all the time, but it seems that he and the rest of the Council are happy and satisfied to see the Town of Krugersdorp in the dilapidated and derelict state it is in and still deteriorating further, including the millions owing for water and electricity!
This Mayor has failed the residents of Krugersdorp horrendously, and urgently needs to be replaced with a hardworking, strong, dedicated person who cares and works for the community of Krugersdorp.
The residents of Krugersdorp should seriously change their vote for a political party who is capable of making a change in Krugersdorp, but then again that ‘party’ would be hard to find!
