Animal abuse is shocking

Paula Beatt from Krugersdorp writes:

In reaction to the Editor’s Note in the News dated 25 January, titled Animal abuse on another level, the following has reference. I too am flabbergasted at the scourge of animal abuse.

I have seen how people “burn” dogs. There are about six dogs at the local animal shelter that have been burnt in the most horrific ways.

I have just recently adopted a little kitten that was dumped there along with its mother (which happens on a daily basis!).

The cases just go on and on! I really think that some sort of legislation should be brought in to help and give our furry animals a right and a say as the plight is just going to carry on.

And as you say, they can’t speak for themselves. Cruelty is rife in this country and nothing gets done, whereas overseas there are strict laws that are carried out and adhered to.

I am very concerned.
