How is your mind?

Pastor Gerrit Mes; from the pulpit.

Many people do not realise how very important their state of mind is. If you allow your mind to be filled with negative thoughts, it will influence every area of your life. So you and I need to monitor what our eyes watch and what we listen to.

Recently, over a cup of coffee, a friend confessed that most of the people he mixes with express hopelessness for the future of our country. His entire mindset was negative. I have the opposite experience. Most of the people I mix with express hope for our country. My mindset is positive. Who is right and who is wrong? The truth is, all is not well. Yes, we have enormous challenges. The problem is simple. If our minds are filled with hope, if our hands ready to serve, we can make a better future for all.

Besides your mindset, you and I have to believe that God loves this country.

I have a choice. I can allow circumstances to influence the way I look at my wife or I can allow the way I look at my wife to influence my circumstances.

There is a little verse in the Bible that always challenges me. It says, “Let this mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus.”

Our greatest enemy is not our circumstances, but our state of mind.

If you are negative, your mind and heart, even your body, will always negatively influence what you look at. For me, every dark cloud has a silver lining. For some people, every silver lining has a dark cloud. You choose.
