I have been watching the Absa squatter camp story for a long time.
The story given by both Absa and councillor Molefi leaves me with more questions than answers. It doesn’t hold any water.
First, why were the residents of Plot 55 evicted? Why was it a hush-hush job? Why were proper studies not done in compliance with the 2015 court ruling? Absa and Mogale City – I have a question: who is fooling who?
I feel sorry for the Absa spokesperson who gave his story to Checkpoint. I believe he was new on the job and was not given the whole truth by his employers.
I have engaged with some law enforcement agencies, including the Public Protector and I’m going to follow their progress with this matter. Disadvantaged people are also human beings and deserve better. Corrupt corporations and their corrupt political puppets must face the full wrath of the law.
