Regarding the article in the News dated 5 March 2021 with headline SARS on why your tax matters – Part 3 the following:
SARS is NOT helpful.
In my experience (and many other people’s) it is impossible to get help from SARS.
If you phone them, then you are number 367 in the queue (or worse). You will spend several hours waiting for assistance, and of course you will continually get cut off.
On the website, it states that online bookings for appointments have been discontinued.
The “What’s my tax number” feature online does not work even if everything is completed correctly and there are no internet problems.
E-filing is extremely cumbersome, nor is it user-friendly. SARS staff also capture information incorrectly, for example I have never been married and I was listed as married by antenuptial contract, and other shocking errors.
The article is not truthful at all.
