Fellow Krugersdorpers.

Please be careful how you arrange to make donations to the various needy causes in Krugersdorp.

A young woman came to my home and told my housekeeper and I that she was helping both the local SPCA and and an animal clinic.

This caused me to show her the pictures of Eddie, the two-legged dog in Pretoria that two veterinary surgeons had kindly adopted and that they needed donations.

I told the young woman that I wanted to make a donation, but I did not have a smartphone and that the banks did not accept cheques any longer.

She told us that she would make the transfer for us through her smartphone and her bank on our behalf.

On preparing the cash for her I found that I was short of R250 from the round figure that I had in mind. My housekeeper kindly lent me R250 from her February salary.

Just before the woman left my home she told us about a dog in Krugersdorp named Burger that had been poisoned, and that the SPCA and animal clinic needed donations.

Of course I had no more cash so I suggested that she gave 80 percent of my cash to Eddie and 20 percent to Burger. I have made numerous calls to the accounts department of the three above companies – none of the three received one cent!
