As of this week, the News will be publishing a photo of a local photographer in a segment we call ‘Photo of the Week’.
Anyone is eligible to enter, as long as certain guidelines are met.
Photo requirements:
• Must be a high-quality photo. If taken with a cell phone, it should at least be of the standard of a camera photo.
• The file must be larger than 1MB in size.
• The resolution must be at least 72dpi.
• If the above standards are met but the quality of the photo is not high enough to print, it may not be accepted. For example: A photo taken in the dark without a flash may be too distorted/ noisy/ pixelated to print.
• The photo must be your own intellectual property and not belong to someone else.
• The photo must be of something interesting, or taken in an interesting manner.
• The photo must be taken or the photographer must stay in the Mogale City area to be eligible.
• You can add the photo specifications such as ISO, Shutter, etc.
• Photos before and after being edited can be submitted for consideration to be published next to one another.
Additional requirements:
• Give the image a title/ headline
• Include a caption describing the image
• State the name and surname of the photographer
• State when the photo was taken
• State the area where it was taken (for example: Noordheuwel)

Photos taken in the Roodepoort area can possibly be published in our sister newspapers Roodepoort Record or Roodepoort Northsider.
