• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:
The one thing no one can survive without is hope.
Once you start to believe that there is no hope, you begin to die. Hope for me has been a light at the end of a tunnel so many times. The word hopeless means powerless. You are paralysed, you are doomed. In sport and marriage, it is hope that keeps us going. But hope is more than wishful thinking. Hope is believing.
In fact, the Bible says the three most powerful things in life is, “faith, hope, and love”. Yes, we know the power of faith. No one doubts the power of love. But hope? Yes, this little thing that makes us recognize the light at the end of the tunnel is what gets us through anything.
Hebrews 11:1 puts it like this, “Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.”
If your back is against the wall today, you cannot solve the problem, people cannot help, religion rings hollow in your ears, don’t give up. Just one more time get up and hope.
Some people die with hope in their hearts, but those without hope have died already. Your smile, your words, your actions today can be the one thing that brings hope into a dying person’s heart. Be hope today.
